Here are some of the most popular (and cost-effective) ways to transport your goods from the UK to Sweden.

Dover or Folkestone

The most popular way to travel from the UK to Sweden by ferry (in a van or lorry) is by using both freight ferry/tunnel and road transport. 

Firstly, businesses will typically transport from the South of England into France by booking their tickets from Dover to Calais or Dunkerque (Dunkirk), or from Folkestone to Calais with Eurotunnel. 

From here, the goods will be transported into Northern Germany by road freight. The Puttgarden ⇄ Rodby and Helsingor ⇄ Helsingborg routes can help take your goods from Germany into Denmark, and then from Denmark into Sweden. 

These two routes are sold as one, open transit ticket. Both sailings run every 30 minutes, and typically take between 30 and 40 minutes. 

Once booked, your open ticket will be valid for 48 hours. The drive between Rodby and Helsingor takes approximately 2 hours. 

While this cost-effective journey is a favourite of many transporters, there are plenty of other useful Germany to Sweden alternatives.

Germany to Sweden

Other ferry route options to Sweden sail from Germany. These include routes such as Stena Line’s Kiel to Gothenburg, the Scandlines-operated Rostock to Helsingborg and the Rostock to Trelleborg route (operated by Stena Lines and TT-Line).

Additionally, the Travemunde ⇄ Malmo and Travemunde ⇄ Trelleborg routes (operated by Nordö Link and TT-Line respectively) are also among some of the best routes for travel from Germany to Sweden after first transporting your goods into France by ferry or tunnel. 

If you would prefer to transport by ferry directly from the UK to Sweden, then there is one route you’ll need.

Immingham to Gothenburg

Immingham to Gothenburg is the most direct ferry route to travel from the UK to Sweden. There are up to 6 departures per week with a relaxing 27+ hour crossing.

This route involves the least amount of driving mileage and is ideal for artics, with the opportunity for a rest break on board. While this can be one of the more expensive ferries to take your goods to Sweden, it can be much more convenient.

Meanwhile, the facilities onboard are excellent. Amongst other benefits, DFDS offers berths in a shared cabin, en suites and complimentary meals on board for drivers.
