Over Father’s Day weekend, whilst everyone else was running around gathering last minute cards and fighting over the last pair of ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ socks in Sainsburys, the team at Freightlink were donning their pink t-shirts and limbering up at the starting line ready to take part in the Cancer Research UK Race For Life.
The event has been running for almost twenty years and is one of the biggest fundraising events in the country, fighting one of the UK’s biggest killers.
Our local event is held on Moor Park in Preston each year, not far from Freightlink HQ. The event offers a mixture of 5k and 10k fun runs, along with a 5k ‘Pretty Muddy’ assault course.
Over twenty of our Freightlinkers ran, walked (and in some cases staggered, legs akimbo) across the finish line of both events and we couldn’t be prouder! Take a look at our photos from the event on our Freightlink Facebook Page.
Overall, our team raised a staggering £1016 for the charity. Many thanks to everyone who supported the team. Such a great achievement and very well done to everyone who took part.
Currently there are over 160,000 deaths each year in the UK from cancer, with 50% of people likely to develop the disease within their lifetime.
By donating as little as £30, you can make all the difference in the fight against cancer. So next year, grab your running shoes and come and join us! You’ll definitely see us there, next year, too!
